Paws Along The River part of animal seizure probe

Paws Along The River Humane Society assisted with a large-scale animal seizure resulting from an active investigation at the Pleasant Valley Mobile Home Park in Youngsville on Monday.

As an active investigation, additional details are not available for release at this time. Executive Director Jodi Hollabaugh appreciates the public’s understanding as law enforcement and the appropriate agencies continue their work.

As a precaution, all dogs taken into care are suspected to have been exposed to canine parvovirus, a highly contagious and potentially life-threatening disease.

To protect the health and safety of the animals already in their care, as well as the community’s pets, Paws Along The River Humane Society was closed to the public and volunteers through Monday.

Residents of the Pleasant Valley Mobile Home Park are strongly encouraged to ensure that their dogs are up to date on all vaccinations, particularly their parvovirus vaccination. If a resident’s dog may have had contact with affected animals or you have any health concerns, it is recommended that you contact your veterinarian as soon as possible for guidance.

In total, Paws Along The River Humane Society took in 31 animals on Monday including 25 dogs and puppies, three cats, two rats, and one guinea pig. The medical care, housing, quarantine protocols, and ongoing treatment required for these animals will create a significant financial burden for the organization. Community support is critical during times like these. Those who wish to help are encouraged to make a monetary donation to assist with the extraordinary expenses associated with caring for these animals.

Hollabaugh stated how incredibly grateful she is to the staff, volunteers, law enforcement partners, and the community for their continued support as they work to provide these animals with the care they deserve.

Further updates will be shared as information becomes available and the investigation allows.

Starting at $4.00/week.
