Former Scout leader pleads guilty to felony charge
A Warren man identified by Warren police as a Boy Scout leader has pleaded guilty to a third-degree felony charge of corruption of minors.
Ryan A. Zavinski, 25, of Warren had been charged with three counts of third-degree felony corruption of minors – defendant age 18 or above, four counts of corruption of minors and three counts of indecent exposure after an investigation by Warren police officers. In addition to one charge of third-degree felony corruption of minors, Zavinski pleaded guilty to one first-degree misdemeanor charge of corruption of minors. The rest of the charges against Zavinski were not prosecuted. The plea was entered Friday in front of Judge Todd Woodin in the Court of Common Pleas.
Police said the incidents took place July 10, 2025, according to online court docket information.
Zavinski had also been listed on the Warren County School District website as a teacher at Beaty Warren Middle School.
According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, the charges stem from a party at Zavinski’s home following an Eagle Scout ceremony June 8-9, 2025. Police allege Zavinski provided alcohol to minors and suggested playing a version of a board game that resulted in various participants – including Zavinski – being nude during the game. Parents reported the allegations to Warren police after Zavinski, according to the police report, made phone calls the parents found strange. Parents also told police they contacted another scout leader who reportedly told them, according to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, that Zavinski allegedly admitted to exposing himself to the youths during a conversation at a Fourth of July party. The scout leader, according to the affidavit, confirmed the parents account when interviewed July 29. The scout leader told police that shortly after the July 4 party they and a third male scout leader talked with Zavinski and Zavinski allegedly again confirmed he provided alcohol to the minors and was nude in front of the youths.
The youths, according to the affidavit, admitted during a forensic interview July 24 that Zavinski had given them alcohol at his home and that Zavinski was nude while playing the game at the June 8-9 gathering.
