The Warren Parks, Recreation and Landscaping Commission received updates Tuesday on preparations for the city’s C.A.R. Pool season and summer playground program, with officials reporting stable staffing levels and no increase in pool pass rates this year.
The C.A.R. Pool will open for half-day operations June 1 through 5, with hours scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Full-day operations will begin June 6, when the pool shifts to its regular noon to 6 p.m. schedule. Officials said operating hours may be extended during periods of extreme heat if staffing permits.
Pool pass rates will remain unchanged from the 2025 season. Daily admission passes will be available at the gate, while season passes can be purchased through the City of Warren Municipal Building Tax Office. Information on pricing and season pass applications is available on the city’s website. Any temporary schedule adjustments will be announced through city and YMCA communication channels.
Commission members also discussed ongoing work at Point Park, where construction activity is expected to increase later this summer. However, Department of Public Works Superintendent Joe Reinke said the project should have minimal impact on pool parking during the height of the season.
The city’s summer playground program will run from June 15 through Aug. 7, operating weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Playground program director Kassie Damcott said the city retained half of last year’s staff, including five returning supervisors among a team of 10. Staffing assignments will include three supervisors each at Lacy and Crescent parks and four at Beaty.
Supervisors will complete training in CPR, first aid, mandated reporter certification, playground safety and active shooter response procedures before the program begins.
