Beaty-Warren may create Running Club

A running club may be on its way to the Beaty-Warren Middle School.

The Warren County School District Board of Education will discuss approval for the new club during the board’s meeting tonight. The running club will support both the middle school’s cross country and track and field teams. Membership will be open to seventh and eighth graders who maintain good grades and who exhibit positive behavior inside and outside of school. The club will meet monthly and have a coach and advisor to oversee practices, performances and behavior. The coach must also oversee all club fundraisers.

The Warren County School District will hold its committee of the whole meeting tonight at 6 p.m. at the central office building in Russell. The board will be asked to approve several items in the curriculum, instruction and technology departments including a behavior management system training program. Other items to be approved consist of renewals for software programs with the renewal for a student information software program costing over $37,000.

The board will be asked to approve a quote from E-rate, a federal program that helps schools access affordable internet and telecommunications services. In addition, a quote of approximately $93,000 for annual Microsoft licensing renewal will be presented.

Articulation agreements with University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will be discussed as well as agreements for college credits from Warren County Career Center’s two automotive programs. Also for approval is a quote for an on-line instruction program I-CAR (Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair) which will provide students with training for up to 5 different entry level Industry Recognized certifications. New contracts for approval include an AI- powered platform to support teachers as well as an AI instructional support program for AI detection on student work.

Also on the agenda for approval are proposals with National Fuel to install a gas service line for Beaty Warren Middle School and a $36,923 upgrade for the lighting at the Warren County Career Center lower parking lot.

In the finance department, insurance renewals, purchases and other reports will be presented including a contract for the purchase of Electronic Timecard Software from Frontline.

According to a grant report, over $29,000 in donations were awarded for the 2025-2026 school year, while 15 out of 30 grants listed total an awarded amount of $4,069,158.
