The Woman’s Club of Warren is offering three merit-based scholarships at $2,500 each for any post secondary education for citizens of Warren County.
People of all ages are encouraged to apply, including non-traditional students.
The club has a long history of giving out these scholarships, more than $80,000 through the years. With its mission of education, scholarship, and historic preservation, the group fosters interests of the membership and supporters educational opportunities for the communities of Warren County. Established in 1913, the Woman’s Club began partly due to a reaction to the success of the men-only Conewango Club. Its purposes expanded its attention to literary and social issues and soon outgrew the original location on Fourth Avenue in the Greek Revival Mansion House Hotel to where it is today at the historical Waters house on Market Street in 1922. The building has been a forefront for social activity in the community holding countless public lectures, musical presentations, and dramatic performances over the years. The historic property is associated with events that have made a significant contribution to the community where The Woman’s Club of Warren has made its base to carry out their good work.
Application deadline is April 15 and are available at www.warrenwomansclub.org
