Warren man sentenced to probation after dispute with off-duty officers

A Warren man has been sentenced to 1 year of probation after previously facing three felony charges.

Jeffery D. Andrews, 42 of Warren was sentenced on February 20 by Judge Todd Woodin in the Court of Common Plea to a charge of third degree misdemeanor of simple assault for a maximum of 1 year probation.

Andrews was charged with first-degree felony burglary, two counts of second-degree felony aggravated assault with attempts to cause or causes bodily injury with a deadly weapon, two counts of recklessly endangering another person and two counts of terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another on June 14.

These charges were not prosecuted and Andrews pled guilty to a simple assault charge.

According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause Warren State Troopers were requested to investigate an incident in Pleasant Township at 2:16 a.m. on June 14. An alleged neighbor dispute on Callender Street resulted in shots fired at three off-duty police officers from Bradford.

According to the affidavit, when troopers interviewed the officers, they said they had rented an Airbnb from Thursday night through Saturday, and went to local bars before returning to Callender Street around 1:30 a.m. Between 5 and 10 minutes later, Andrews went to the Airbnb, where a verbal argument allegedly escalated.

Andrews allegedly grabbed one of the off-duty officers by the throat and shoved him through a screen door.

According to the Affidavit, one of the officers then hit Andrews with a closed fist and the confrontation continued until shots were allegedly fired by Andrews. The officers then ran back into the rental house and Andrews went back to his home.

The Affidavit stated that initial responders found two 9mm causings at the scene and it was reported that Andrews regularly carries a concealed pistol and has a concealed carry permit.
