Pittsfield man sentenced to jail time still faces three felony charges
A Pittsfield man has been sentenced with up to two years of prison after pleading guilty to theft by unlawful taking – moveable property.
On Dec. 18, 2024, Tyler Engle, 33, was charged with the second-degree misdemeanor as well as a first-degree misdemeanor charge of theft by unlawful taking – movable property. On Nov. 3, 2025, Engle pleaded guilty to the second-degree misdemeanor and his first-degree misdemeanor was changed on Nov. 3, 2025.
Engle was sentenced to between 4 months and 1 year, 11 months and 30 days of confinement by Judge Gregory Hammond on Feb. 27. Engle’s plea to the second-degree misdemeanor also includes payment of court costs and $912.46 in restitution.
Engle is also facing three felony charges from Feb. 4, 2026, that include second-degree felony possession of controlled substances/contraband by an inmate and felony manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver by Warren police. Bail on the Feb. 4 charges was set at $75,000, with the charges held over for the Court of Common Pleas on Wednesday. Engle was also charged with a third-degree felony for failure to verify address/be photographed by the State Police at Warren in late February, with bail set at $100,000. That charge was held over Wednesday for the Court of Common Pleas.
Engle was also charged with failure to verify address/be photographed in 2025, but was released after posting $25,000 bail. He was also charged with failure to verify address/be photographed in Erie County back in 2023, according to online court docket information.
SeThese charges are a result of a 2016 guilty plea to a charge of sexual exploitation of children in federal court. Cameras containing 57 images of underage girls were allegedly found by police. Engle was sentenced to 35 months in prison and to register as a Tier 1 offender which, under Megan’s Law, requires a 10-year sex offender registration period. This period, which began in May 2016, does not end until May 2026.
