“Daughters of Thunder” are bringing both the lightning and the thunder with their music.
Sisters Annabelle and Adalyn Martin have been performing in all sorts of music, whether it be at home, church, Warren’s and Chautauqua’s “Got Talent Shows,” the Warren County Fair and recently the Pennsylvania Farm Show; they’ve won several awards. Since their first performance in 2019, they have become finalists in Chautauqua’s Got Talent every year since 2022. In Warren’s Got Talent, Annabelle won Best Showmanship two years in a row and second place thereafter in 2024.
Formed in 2022, the Daughters of Thunder was the name they chose after watching an episode of “The Chosen.” The nickname “Sons of Thunder” is given to the apostles James and John after Jesus rebukes them for their impulsive behavior during episode 1 titled “Thunder” in season 2 of the show.
The Martin family surround themselves with music daily. By listening to other bands, the girls became interested in a style of music that is described as hard Christian rock influenced by bands like Flyleaf, Lacey Sturm and Demon Hunter; are all of bands in which they have met. The Uprise Festival in Shippensburg is where they met many bands. They have even opened for the band known as Seventh Day Slumber.

Other encounters for the girls have been meeting guitarist Brian “Head” Welch; of the band Korn, who became a Christian years ago. The girls have covered for artists like Anberlin and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and are among the many musicians they have met and admire. Over the years, the family has attended many concerts together and remain doing so even more in order to meet additional bands. Ryan Clark of Demon Hunter is a singer that the Daughters of Thunder said they look up to, and has been very supportive of them. While the girls do mostly rock music, they also do some acoustic music
The Nordland Music Studio in Youngsville is where the sisters got their start by taking piano and vocal lessons at age 3 for Annabelle; while Adalyn began at age 4 with piano, vocals, guitar and ukulele. They both enjoy singing the most. Local sports fans may have heard the girls sing the National Anthem for the Lake Erie Jackals (formerly the Jamestown Jackals), the Erie Seawolves and the Jamestown Community College Jayhawks. Talented in many things, both girls have been participants in stage acting in local performances such as “Charlotte’s Web,” “Seussical,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” and more recently “Oliver” last fall at the Struthers Library Theater. The girls have appeared in Christmas shows by Molly Dies Dance Unlimited as well as several shows at church over the years. They have even done voiceover acting for a children’s show called “Keeka and Friends,” which was their very first recording experience.
Since 2023, Warren’s Music Conservatory has produced all of the band’s music and vocal training. Signing with the Warren Music Conservatory label in March 2025, the song “Come Alive” was immediately released. Later in September, “Waiting for a Sign” was released, and the most recent one, “Sworn,” written by both of them. A song titled “Your Reign is Over” was recently recorded and written by both with a release coming at the end of the month. This new song is based off of King Saul’s reign and fall. Currently working towards an album, the girls have written all of the album’s songs together.
Parents Jared and Danielle Martin are talented in the arts but the girls are specifically talented in music.
“So finding a good fit for teachers in what the girls are doing was important,” said Danielle Martin.

Thankful for all of the talented people that have helped them in this endeavor over the years, they both say, “The music conservatory has been an amazing studio to work with. Dale Haight has invested so much into us and has given us so much support in helping bring our visions to life.”
In addition, Paul Schwanke has been working with Adalyn for years by building the foundation of her musical talent.
“Joe Glarner has been an amazing asset for producing all of our music and helping shape our sound,” the Martins said.
When asked, the girls say that they do dream of music as a future career. They’ve taken these dreams seriously and their parents sensed their talent and drive at a very young age. At age 2 Annabelle auditioned for the local play, “Willy Wonka,” just for fun and practice. Later a life coach connected with Annabelle for acting. Danielle said that Annabelle was an early reader and at age 3 started piano lessons with vocals to follow.
Their personalities come to life on stage because typically Annabelle is quiet and reserved but one wouldn’t know that when she is on stage. Meanwhile Adalyn, the younger sister, is very outgoing all of the time.
Next month, as well as into May, the Daughters of Thunder will participate in Chautauqua’s Got Talent once again. They will likely perform, but not compete, in the Warren’s Got Talent show this year which takes place in September.
“We don’t expect things to happen. Just live life not expecting things to happen,” the sisters said. “This year we entered the county fair, and went on to the PA Farm Show in Harrisburg, not expecting to win, but entered for fun.” They have won separately in the past two years, not just for their music but for their baking too. The girls have also talked about opening a bakery, but for now are enjoying the musical life mostly.
