Council agenda includes parade agreements, 200 block parking discussion
Warren City Council members will consider formal indemnification agreements with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) for this Year’s Fourth of July Parade and Veterans Day Parade during its meeting today.
The agreements would allow both events to utilize city streets that are under state control.
Whenever an event requires the use of state-controlled roadways within the city, organizers must submit a notice to PennDOT. Council will review requests for the Fourth of July Parade, hosted by the Warren County Fourth of July Committee, and the Veterans Day Parade organized by the Blue Star Mothers of Kinzua PA203.
Council will also provide an update on the mid-block crosswalk and parking concerns in the 200 block.
Local business owner Fred Watson raised the issue during last month’s council meeting, stating that parking challenges have developed near his store.
According to Watson, vehicles frequently occupy unmetered spaces for extended periods, limiting turnover and making it more difficult for customers to find parking for nearby businesses. Council members said at the time they would review the situation.
Monday’s meeting will also feature guest presentations by Ashley Fosbrink-Horrell of the PA Wilds Center for Entrepreneurship and District Attorney Cody Brown.
Additional agenda items include updates from the Comprehensive Task Force, Riverfront Development, the Council of Governments and Warren Worx, along with departmental reports from the Police Department, Fire Department, Department of Public Works and the Codes and Planning Department.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the second-floor Council Chambers of the Municipal Building.
