Committee meetings may go on the road

A portion of the Warren County school board’s work may be going on the road – but not voting meetings.
Taking board meetings into communities throughout Warren County has been brought up several times in recent weeks by board member Misty Moore, who also raised the issue during her campaign for the board. Board member Tammi Holden has also pushed the issue in recent weeks.
Superintendent Gary Weber said during the board’s most recent meeting the best way to take meetings to communities in the county is to do so quarterly and with committee meetings rather than board meetings. The reasoning is because of the voting that needs to take place, so it is important that technology is in working order and more flexible conversations can happen in a committee meeting. These quarters will be in line with the school year quarters, leaving summer out.
Board member John Wortman asked to be provided an estimate of the cost to the district for mileage to be paid to the administrative employees for the change of locations. Weber said he will have that information ready at the next board meeting.
