Community members gathered at the Eagles Club in Warren recently for a heartfelt breakfast benefit held in honor of Avery Dalrymple, a local senior and Health Medical Assisting student at the Warren County Career Center.

Peers in her class volunteered to help run the event from assisting with set up, greeting, serving and organizing donations. The students displayed professionalism, teamwork and compassion – all life skills they practice daily in the classroom and lab, shared proud instructor Erika Cowan, of the Health Medical Assisting program. “They represented the program with compassion, professionalism, and heart. Watching them step up to serve others is exactly what health care is all about.”

The support shown by families, friends, school staff, and the community included a surprise visit by the Dalrymple family, including Avery which reminded everyone just why the event was so meaningful. Thanks to the generosity of donors, attendees, and supporters, the breakfast benefit raised more than $5,000.

The overwhelming turnout showed the strength and compassion of the community. A heartfelt thank you also was sent to the staff at the Eagles Club along with many volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the event such a success.

“Events like this do not happen without dedicated individuals willing to give their time and energy,” Cowan said.

As someone who also works at the Eagles, it was especially meaningful for Cowan to see both her school community and her Eagles family come together in support of the Dalrymple family. This benefit was a powerful reminder of the loving, giving spirit of the people of Warren county where accomplishments take place when a community rallies around one of its own.

There is an additional benefit breakfast, which will be at the Wrightsville Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday, March 14 from 8 to 11 a.m. The cost is by donation. Pancakes, eggs, sausage and pie will be available. All proceeds from this breakfast will go directly to the family to help with medical and travel expenses.
