Pam Falber, union director, thanked the Independent Order of Odd Fellows for delivering a hefty wooden-legged pool table that typically weighs between 600 to 1,000 pounds to the union. The Allegheny Community Center donated the table and members of the Warren Lodge 339 IOOF disassembled the pool table at Community Center, transported it to WASU and reassembled the table while also replacing the table top with a new blue felt cover. It is quite heavy, and they invested a significant amount of effort into this project, Falber said.
The Toy Shoppe, located in North Warren, crafted the corn hole boards for WASU students and Dee Dee Tucker produced the bean bags. Plans for more projects with students are being set up.
Falber said she and the students appreciate the support the community provides for WASU. The Community Foundation of Warren County is a huge contributor in keeping the doors opened. There have been volunteers that have come from the pound exercise class that rents the building. Among several activities available there are karaoke and Laser tag sets have recently been added to the fun.
