Tonight’s game at Eisenhower doubles as fundraiser for Avery Dalrymple

The Eisenhower Boys Basketball team is rallying the community to support senior Avery Dalrymple during their final Friday night home game of the season.

Dalrymple has been recovering at UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh since being involved in a car accident last month. In response, the school community has organized a benefit, beginning at 4 pm.

The event will feature basket raffles, a 50/50 drawing and a bake sale. To further maximize donations, the basketball boosters will not be operating their usual concession stand and instead encourage attendees to purchase food from Bucket Brigade Pizza, which will be on site from 4 to 6 pm. With ingredients donated by Jay’s Shoe Repair, all food sale proceeds will go directly to Dalrymple and her family.

Supporters are also encouraged to wear T-shirts previously sold by Young Custom Creations in Dalrymple’s honor.

“There has just been an overwhelming outpour of community donations and support,” said Lacey Hanson, president of the Knights basketball boosters and mother of two team members.

This benefit is one of many efforts organized to assist Dalrymple and her family.

During her time at Eisenhower, Dalrymple has been active in the school’s athletic community, serving as a cheerleader and as a statistician for the wrestling team. Both groups have donated items for the basket raffle.

All funds raised will help the Dalrymple family with medical and transportation expenses.

While the game tips off at 6 pm, Hanson emphasized that community members do not need to attend the game to show their support. Those who wish to contribute can can simply purchase food, or donate. Basket raffles will be set up in the cafeteria of the high school.

Starting at $3.50/week.
