Pittsfield man sentenced to prison
A Pittsfield man has been sentenced to 11 to 23 months of confinement after pleading guilty to two of the five charges filed against him.
James R. Fors of Pittsfield was sentenced on Friday by Judge Todd Woodin in the Court of Common Plea to a charge of first degree misdemeanor of corruption of minors for 3 to 6 months of confinement as well as a first degree misdemeanor of indecent assault forcible compulsion for 8 to 17 months of confinement and 3 years of probation. The sentences will run concurrently.
Fors’ second degree misdemeanor charge of indecent assault without consent of other was dismissed, while another first-degree misdemeanor and a third degree felony charge were both changed.
According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by the State Police at Warren, Fors was allegedly charged after an investigation into an incident took place in May of 2022 in Brokenstraw Township.
Fors was taken to the county jail after being unable to post the $50,000 bail set by Magisterial District Judge Todd Woodin.
State Police received a referral from Warren County Children and Youth Services, and a forensic interview was held June 2, 2023 at the Warren County Children’s Advocacy Center with a 13-year-old girl.
She said on Mother’s Day 2022 she was sleeping in her bedroom when she awoke to Fors allegedly touching the girl inappropriately.
The Affidavit of Probable Cause stated that the defendant tried to hold down the victim while she struggled to get away.
A second forensic interview was done in January of 2025 at the Warren County Children’s Advocacy Center, where the girl repeated her story. The State Police then decided to file charges.
