Cold puts temporary freeze on Winterfest
Winter has led to the decision to chill out regarding a weekend event.
The Friends of Chapman State Park is postponing Winterfest, which was to take place Saturday, due to the weather forecast. Organizers said “it is believed to be in the best interest of safety due to the forecasted weather conditions” and will be tentatively rescheduled for Sunday, Feb. 15. The schedule of activities and events will remain the same; it’s just a change in date.
According to the National Weather Service, severe cold weather is expected this weekend, especially between late Friday and Saturday morning. Dangerously cold wind chills of 20 to 30 below zero is possible. The impacts could cause frostbite on exposed skin as quickly as within 30 minutes. It is expected to remain cold and windy into Sunday morning, however Saturday morning will be the coldest period.
