Point Park is set to undergo extensive renovations, including the construction of a new pavilion, playground and perimeter fencing, along with ADA-accessible restrooms and parking.
Mike Holtz, city manager, told City Council members recently the park sees especially heavy use during the summer months due to its proximity to the CAR Pool.
The city received a $250,000 grant through Congressionally Directed Spending secured by Senator John Fetterman.
Officials hope to complete the park improvements by the end of the year, though Holtz cautioned that the timeline is not guaranteed.

In addition, the city was awarded $300,000 from the Shapiro Administration to address infrastructure concerns at Indian Hollow Run. The funding will be used to repair the concrete walls on both sides of the floodway.
Holtz explained that while the walls are inspected annually, they were recently flagged for needed repairs.
City officials are aiming to complete this project before year’s end as well.
