Audubon Photography Club Relaunches March 7
Taylor Spontaneo, Audubon Community Nature Center nature educator, is spearheading the return of the Audubon Photography Club on Saturday, March 7. The club will meet on the first Saturday of each month, and new photographers at all levels are welcome.
The Audubon Community Nature Center is relaunching its Audubon Photography Club starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7.
Beginning March 7, the club will meet the first Saturday of each month. New photographers at all levels are welcomed each time.
No matter what type of camera photographers are using or their level of skill, area photographers are invited to start the weekend with an opportunity to share photos and the stories behind them with other nature lovers and photographers.
The Audubon Photography Club will encourage photographers to look at nature through a different lens. A brief presentation will be offered at the end to help photographers develop their nature photography skills. Coffee and tea are provided.
“I’ve been taking pictures ever since I could hold a camera and really got myself into the technicalities of photography about 15 years ago,” said Taylor Spontaneo, Audubon Community Nature Center and club leader. “I am so excited to create a community of photo-loving, nature-loving people! I grew up in Staten Island and when I first moved to Western New York from New York City in 2019, I heard of a photography club taking place at ACNC. I became a member, but after the pandemic, the club dispersed. I want to recreate that sense of community by bringing back the photography club to Audubon for all to enjoy.”
With a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and masters degree in teaching, Spontaneo joined Audubon as a nature educator in February 2025, continuing to spread her love of teaching and nature to all.
To be included in the monthly slideshow, one week before the first Saturday of the month submit five photos to Spontaneo at TSpontaneo@AudubonCNC.org.
Participation is $4 for adults, $3 for Nature Center members and children ages 9-15. Reservations are appreciated by calling 716-569-2345 or going to AudubonCNC.org/photo-club. Walk-ins are welcome.
The Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown and Warren. Visit the nearly 600-acre nature preserve, look in on the live birds of prey, enjoy the natural play space, and hike, snowshoe or cross country ski six miles of trails dawn until dusk daily for free.
The three-story Nature Center building houses interactive displays, a collection of live animals, winners of the 2025 Nature Photography Contest, and the Blue Heron Gift Shop. Visitors are welcome Mondays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sundays, 1 to 4:30 p.m. Nature Center members and SNAP/EBT and Arts Access cardholders have free building admission daily. Building admission is also free Sundays for non-Nature Center members.
