Warren man sentenced to prison

A Warren man has been sentenced to 30 to 60 months of confinement after pleading no contest to three of the 138 charges that had been filed against him.

Nolan D.R. Nudd of Warren was sentenced recently by Judge Todd Woodin in the Court of Common Pleas to 20 to 40 months to satisfy a no contest plea to a charge of second-degree unlawful contact iwth a minor – sexual offenses and 4 to 8 months to satisfy a no contest plea to a charge of criminal attempt – disseminating explicit sexual material to a minor. Nudd also pleaded no contest to a charge of third-degree felony unlawful contact with a minor – open lewdness, and was sentenced to 6 to 12 months confinement. The sentences will run concurrently.

Nudd will also have to register as a sex offender.

Nudd was originally charged with 80 counts of discussing explicit sexual materials with a minor, a class 2 felony; 56 counts of unlawful contact with a minor – open lewdness, a class 3 felony; and criminal use of a communications facility, a class 3 felony.

All but three of the charges were not prosecuted by the Warren County District Attorney’s Office, while Nudd’s no contest plea means Nudd accepts conviction and sentencing without formally admitting guilt. A no contest plea requires court approval and functions similarly to a guilty plea for sentencing, but prevents the plea from being used as an admission of guilt if civil cases are filed after the criminal case concludes.

According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Warren police in 2025, Nudd allegedly tried to meet with someone he thought was a 15-year-old girl, but was actually an undercover police officer, and then allegedly sent 79 nude photos and videos to the person. Nudd also allegedly made various sexual comments and had explicit conversations with the undercover police officer.

The investigation began in December, according to the affidavit, when Nudd allegedly made contact with a covert Facebook Messenger account operated by police operating undercover. The affidavit states Nudd was allegedly told after five days that the age of the covert account was that of a 15-year-old. Since that disclosure, Nudd allegedly made lewd and explicit statements about having intercourse and meeting the girl while also sending nude photos to the undercover officers.

On Jan. 18, 2025, Nudd allegedly directed the covert account to meet at Sixth Avenue and Water Street in Warren. Officers watched the location, allegedly saw Nudd leave his house and then saw Nudd vehicle in the area of Sixth Avenue and Water Street before following Nudd back home. The affidavit states officers tried to make contact with Nudd at his home but were unable to do so. Officers then asked the court for an arrest warrant to be issued.
