Animal cruelty case proceeds to Court of Common Pleas

Charges filed against a Pittsfield woman accused of cruelty to animals have been bound over to the Court of Common Pleas.

Two area residents face charges after State Police responded to a report of an injured dog recently.

Trista K. Wilson, 21, of Pittsfield and Drake A. Johnson, 23, were charged Nov. 3 by the State Police at Warren after an incident Oct. 17, according to online court docket information. Troopers responded to the area of Murray Hill Road and Stilson Hill Road in Sugar Grove for a report of an injured dog.

Upon arrival, troopers report seeing two small mixed breed dogs on the shoulder of Murray Hill Road, one of which was allegedly extremely malnourished. Both dogs were taken to Paws Along The River for treatment. Troopers then found the owners of the dogs and charged them.

According to online court docket information, Wilson is charged with third-degree aggravated cruelty to animals – causing serious bodily injury or death, misdemeanor cruelty to animals, misdemeanor neglect of animals – sustenance/water, third-degree felony aggravated cruelty to animals – torture and cited for application dog license/fees, penalties and vaccination against rabies required – proof of vaccination. Wilson was arraigned Monday by Magisterial District Judge Laura Bauer, who set bail at $25,000 unsecured.

Formal arraignment will take place Feb. 12 in front of President Judge Gregory J. Hammond.

Cases also proceeding to the Court of Common Pleas for arraignment Feb. 12 in Hammond’s court after lower court action this week include:

– Ricky A. Smith, 54, of North East, Pa., who faces charges of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, criminal use of a communication facility and use/possession of drug paraphernalia. Formal arraignment is scheduled for Feb. 12 in front of Judge Hammond.

– Joshua A. Clark, who was charged in October with making repairs/selling/etc. Offense weapons, DUI: controlled substance – combination alcohol/drugs – second offense, DUI: high rate of alcohol (BAC .10-.16%) – second offense; DUI: general impairment/incapable of driving safely – second offense; DUI: controlled substance or metabolite – first offense; driving while BAC .02 or greater while license suspended and two traffic citations.

In other court actions this week, Jason E. Quattrone was taken to the Warren County Jail on Monday after allegedly violating an order of protection. Bail was originally set at $10,000 cash but was later changed to non-monetary conditions by Magisterial District Judge Raymond Zydonik. The charge will be heard in the Court of Common Pleas.
