Warren County’s kickoff of the 250th birthday of the United States of America will take place today.
The county will host its America250 kickoff event at 10:45 a.m. today at the City of Warren Municipal Building. The America250 tour will continue across all 67 counties in the state as a way to celebrate each county. The county’s kickoff is hosted by Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry, Warren County Visitors Bureau, and the Warren County, PA Government.
America250PA is leading the statewide effort to ensure that the Semiquincentennial is meaningful and inclusive for all Pennsylvanians. The county kick-off ceremonies are a pivotal part leading up to the July 4 celebration.
The Pennsylvania Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial (America250PA) was established by the General Assembly and Governor in 2018 to plan, encourage, develop and coordinate the commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of the founding of the United States, Pennsylvania’s integral role in that event, and the impact of its people on the nation’s past, present, and future. The commission is made up of current and past Pennsylvania leaders, celebrating the rich history and diversity of the state.
Cassandra Coleman, the executive director of America250PA has embarked on a journey across all 67 counties in the state. Her tour is set to honor each county’s contributions to the nation’s history, with the highlight of ending the tour in Luzerne County.
“This installation is a reminder that Pennsylvania’s story isn’t just the story of one city or one region–it’s a Commonwealth. We are a Commonwealth,” said America250PA Executive Director Cassandra Coleman during an America250 exhibit installation in the state Capitol in 2025. “That means every bridge, every bell, and every battlefield represented here can–and should–be a source of pride. No matter if you live along the shores of Lake Erie, in the Blossom Belt of Adams County, or near the rushing falls of Ricketts Glen, this history is yours.”
The statewide celebration officially began in Philadelphia on Friday, January 16, before visiting all of the 67 Pennsylvania counties. These county kick-off ceremonies are meant to highlight the unique story of each county in order to encourage residents to participate in the lead-up to the nation’s semiquincentennial in July.
