Youngsville prepares for annual Hometown Christmas event

YOUNGSVILLE – Youngsville Borough is hosting its annual Hometown Christmas event on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 4 to 6 p.m.

The event will feature a variety of activities, including food, vendors and music as well as a parade.

The parade will travel through downtown Youngsville and will include 20 floats. This includes multiple fire and police departments, the Youngsville Public Works Department and various residents who have chosen to participate. The top four floats will be awarded prizes.

There will be a variety of events happening downtown for attendees of all ages. There will be free wagon rides and a Festival of Trees at the New Life Church. There will also be a special visitor making an appearance to light the Christmas tree.

The majority of local businesses will also be participating by staying open late during the event and offering specials.

There will also be a home decorating contest taking place on Dec. 4 and 5. Residents of Youngsville Borough and Brokenstraw Township are encouraged to cover their houses in lights and holiday decorations. The three best houses will receive cash prizes.

The city and community members have been preparing for the event since October by having weekly meetings, organizing the parade and speaking to vendors.

Borough manager Wendy Wilcox hopes the event brings a sense of community to the area.

“Everyone getting together, celebrating Youngsville, our downtown and our people brings joy to the season,” said Wilcox.

Starting at $3.50/week.
