Wendy McCain concludes term at final city council meeting
Mayor David Wortman recognizes Wendy McCain at her final city council meeting.
Monday night marked the final city council meeting for council member Wendy McCain, bringing her term of service to a close.
McCain first began her inaugural term on the council in 2022 and announced she would not seek re-election for a second term. Her departure concludes years of public service in which she worked alongside fellow council members on a variety of local issues impacting the community.
During the meeting, McCain reflected on her time in office and the experiences she gained while serving in local government.
“I’ve learned a great deal about governmental service,” said McCain.
She also used the opportunity to encourage residents to become involved in civic life and consider serving in government, emphasizing the importance of community participation in shaping local decision-making.
McCain’s seat will soon be filled by Will Champlin, who was elected in November. Champlin is scheduled to be officially sworn in during the City Council’s first meeting of the new year on Jan. 7, at which time he will begin his term.
