School district names CLASS Act Emerging Leader nominees
A pair of Warren County students have been recognized as CLASS Act Emerging Leader nominees.
Alexis Stec, an Eisenhower Middle High School senior, as Warren County School District’s November nominee for PA CLASS Act Emerging Leader. If chosen, Alexis will receive a $1,200 scholarship and a chance for an additional $5,500 scholarship at the end of the year.
“Alexis Stec is an outstanding example of what it means to be a dedicated, community-minded, and well-rounded student,” Warren County School District officials said when announcing Stec’s nomination.
Alexis’ favorite subject is English, where she loves reading older stories and connecting their themes to everyday life. She also enjoys her AP Government and Politics class because it challenges her to think critically and engage in spirited debate. Alexis has earned the Gold B and Honor Roll distinction and is enrolled in the Health and Medicine program at the Warren County Career Center.
Beyond the classroom, Alexis is deeply involved in her school and community. She participates in softball and cheerleading, serves as a volunteer firefighter with the Clarendon Fire Department, and works part-time at Bob Evans. As the 2025 Warren County Fair Queen and President of Skills USA, Alexis has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to service. Through 4-H, she contributes to projects such as cleaning fairgrounds, rebuilding barns, and helping with livestock shows.
In her role as Fair Queen, she has attended more than 50 community events and plans on volunteering at Saint Joseph’s Soup Kitchen in the spring with her 4-H Club.
“Alexis Stec is not only a leader in the classroom, but a leader among her peers,” wrote Grace Cameron, one of Stec’s teachers at Eisenhower. “She is conscientious, friendly, and vocal. At least once a week, she is involved with agricultural groups or reading to elementary students about dairy and agriculture. Her initiative and tenacity are difficult to match–she is a go-getter with an optimistic attitude who balances schoolwork, service, and athletics while encouraging others to get involved and fostering a sense of community.”
Alexis’s favorite teachers, Mrs. Walters, Mrs. Cameron, and Mr. Taylor–have inspired her academic journey. Her long-term goal is to become an athletic trainer and attend the University of Pittsburgh. She lives by the motto:
“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.”
Lainey Font, also an Eisenhower MIddle High School senior, is Warren County School District’s December nominee for PA C.L.A.S.S Act Emerging Leader.
Lainey earned academic letters in ninth, 10th and 11th grades, was named Chemistry Student of the Year twice, and excels in rigorous coursework such as Honors Anatomy and Honors Inorganic Chemistry. Her work ethic reflects persistence and a deep commitment to learning, while her curiosity and determination set a positive example for her peers. Lainey’s character shines through her compassion, honesty, and respect for others. She treats classmates and teachers alike with kindness and integrity, fostering an atmosphere of trust and collaboration. Her chemistry teacher, Charles Hayes, has played a role in inspiring her passion for science and modeling the same qualities she now embodies–respect, patience, and empathy.
Lainey gives back through her extensive involvement in Key Club, volunteering for events such as the community Thanksgiving dinner, road cleanups, and school Trick-or-Treat night. As President of the National Honor Society and Treasurer for Student Council, Key Club, and her graduating class, she leads with humility and a sense of responsibility that inspires others to engage in service and school pride.
Lainey is also captain of the basketball, volleyball, and cross-country teams while balancing multiple extracurricular commitments.
She is the daughter of Jody Nelson and Shay Font.
