Free books available at Christmas walk

The tradition of having a free book give-away at the Christmas Walk continues made possible by a donation in honor of Otis and George Francis Conquer by their grandparents.
“We are thrilled these grandparents have stepped up again to help local children have a brighter and more fun future,” said Ruby Wiles, Free Books for Kids founder.
The tradition began 14 years ago thanks to the leadership of Dan Blair at the Blair Company. For more than seven years, Blair funded the giveaway. Then the McKissock company stepped up. Several times over the last few years the same generous grandparents have made it possible.
As in the past, there will be a wide selection of books for all ages from board books for the littlest ones to fantasy for the older readers. There will be books on all kinds: animals, dinosaurs, bugs, historic events as well as historical , realistic, sports, horror fiction. These books will be available on a first come first serve basis for the first 150 children.
The free book give-away will start at 5:30 p.m. before the parade begins and will probably end before 7 p.m.
