Crafted with Love: WCCC Welding students make Christmas gifts

Warren County Career Center welding student’s creations they plan to give as Christmas gifts.

A handmade gift represents more than just the finished product. It takes time, effort, creativity and skill. This year, Warren County Career Center welding students are putting those qualities to use by creating meaningful, one-of-a-kind gifts for their loved ones.

The annual holiday project gives students the opportunity to strengthen their welding skills while getting into the festive spirit. It also encourages them to express appreciation for friends and family through something they made themselves, rather than something store-bought.

This year’s projects showcased a wide range of creativity. Students designed and welded items such as snowmen, Christmas trees and flowers.

Many students were able to complete multiple projects leading up to Christmas, allowing them to give handmade gifts to several people.

Junior Kaylee Bevevino completed three projects for members of her family. Using a plasma cutter, she created a butterfly and welded it onto a stand.

“It’s for my dad’s girlfriend,” said Bevevino.

In addition, she made a tree for her grandmother and a personalized sign for her niece.

Bevevino shared that she really enjoys welding and plans to pursue a career as a pipeline or oil rig welder after graduation.

Sophomore Travis Childress also worked hard to create a few different presents. However, his favorite is an oil well statue he created for his grandpa. The project allowed him to combine his welding skills with a meaningful personal connection.

Through this annual tradition, students not only gain hands-on experience in their trade but also learn the value of creating something with purpose.

Starting at $3.50/week.
