Christmas used toy share for families in need
Photo by Jessica N. Rex Jennifer Suppa with organizer Debby Hornburg prepare for a first time community toy share event, hosted by the YMCA.
The Warren YMCA is hosting a used toy share drive.
Clean, lightly used toys of all kinds – including but not limited to games, books and puzzles – will be available for sharing to people in the community. Other suggested items include bikes, scooters, sports equipment that is in safe condition, kids DVDs, videos and video games that must be playable. Stuffed animals must be freshly washed with no stains or holes. Please make sure all pieces of the items are included before donating. Organizers ask that no junk be donated. New toys are accepted.
Donations can be dropped off on Friday, Dec. 12, at the Warren YMCA from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m..
Then, on Saturday, Dec. 13, parents and guardians of families in need can come pick out toys for their children. This will be an organized event with 20 people at a time shopping in the East gym of the YMCA. Tickets will be given out on the day of the event to ensure fairness of the items that are given. This is a first-come-first-served basis.
People are encouraged to volunteer on one or both days for this first time event.
Helpers are needed for sorting and displaying items. For more information contact Debby Hornburg at debby_hornburg@yahoo.com.
