Another push for Young Professionals group in works
WCCBI Director of Operations, Savannah Casey will be spearheading the Warren County Young Professionals Group.
The Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry is relaunching a group known as the Warren County Young Professionals (WCYP).
This will begin in the new year and will be spearheaded by the WCCBI Director of Operations, Savannah Casey. Approximately 15 years ago, the group had success until participation dropped off. The plan is to have the meetings four times a year with special events, guest speakers and presentations. In January, Casey will announce the four events along with the dates, locations and a theme.
Being of the younger crowd of professionals herself, Casey said, “I just wanted to gather that demographic of individuals together and let them know they are supported. Whether it’s in a social setting or a more professional development-based setting, this will be different from what the Chamber has done “traditionally.” We need to step out of our comfort zone and try new things. We often talk about retaining our young population, but we need to meet that demographic where they feel most supported.”
Highlighting the success of young professionals helps with community awareness and to reveal the available opportunities to current students. This will also help with retention of the younger people entering the workforce, also causing Warren to be more attractive.
Saying that opportunities do exist here, Casey pointed out that showcasing that is important to the next generation. She also shared that Erie and Jamestown both have a dedicated group and the concept here in Warren will be similar.
Wanting to collaborate with those groups and supporting the entire region, Casey added, would benefit us all. She said,”The goal of this group is to surround our young professionals with people who push them, encourage them, and help them grow. Whether you’re new to the area, building your career, or looking to expand your network, being part of a community that inspires you can truly change everything. It’s about collaborating, learning, and lifting up each other.”
