City kicks off holiday season with tree installation

The City’s Department of Public works officially declared it the beginning of the Christmas season by installing the annual Christmas tree at the intersection of Second Ave. and Pennsylvania Ave. West on Tuesday morning.

The Christmas tree, donated by a local family who wishes to remain anonymous, stands at about 22 feet tall.

According to DPW operator Brandan Bosko, putting up the tree is a coordinated effort that takes about four people a little over an hour. While the tree itself goes up fairly quickly, adding lights is a longer process and takes a few hours to get done.

“Putting up the tree really gets people into the Christmas spirit,” said Bosko. “People have been walking by and taking pictures all morning.”

Other festive decorations will continue to appear around town such as snowflake lights, the “Warren Wishes you a Merry Christmas” sign and LED-wrapped trees.

The tree will be up from now until the beginning of the new year. It serves not only as a festive centerpiece for Christmas Day but also a highlight for the upcoming Christmas Walk on Dec. 5.

Starting at $3.50/week.
