An old Christmas tradition is getting a new twist this year with the addition of LED-wrapped trees behind the “Warren Wishes You Merry Christmas Happy New Year” sign along the Allegheny River at Crescent Park.
The Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry has helped raise money from individuals and businesses for the project.
“Because that sign is so iconic, realizing that we can light all these trees with beautiful lights, showed us that the sign itself is aging,” said Savannah Casey, Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry’s Director of Operations, though refurbishing the sign won’t take place this year.
Wanting to make sure the longevity of that Merry Christmas sign also stays, Casey is excited about the good response from the public. Nine sponsors have donated enough money to light nine trees behind the sign, with donations still being accepted. Business owners can have a tree decorated and a plaque will display the business name near the tree. In addition to those nine trees, a community tree will be the largest tree along the area and this year they aim to cover in lights as much as possible on the nearly 100 foot tall tree. So far, in all, $10,000 has been donated and all names from those that donated will be recognized.
With the idea that this project is “not a one and done” Casey points out that the project is ongoing, with the plans to add to the Christmas spectacle each year. KOPE Services has helped the chamber come up with a plan for professional installation, in-season maintenance, and secure storage.
On the night of the annual Christmas Parade Holiday Walk, Friday, December 5, 2025, the Riverwalk will be lit after the parade, which begins at 6 p.m. So it is advised to gather at 7:45 p.m. across the street from new downtown businesses, River View Nutrition and Plaid Sky Advisors.
