Warren man jailed on $75K bail

A Warren man has been jailed on $75,000 bail after an incident in the city on Monday.

James R. Sorensen, 44, was charged Saturday by Warren city police officers with second-degree felony strangulation, simple assault and harassment. He was arraigned Saturday by Judge Daniel L. Miller, Magisterial District Judge for Forest County, and taken to the Warren County Jail after being unable to post his $75,000 bail. A preliminary hearing will be held Oct. 29.

In other news, a Jamestown, N.Y., man was taken to the Warren County Jail after he was charged with retail theft – taking merchandise, on Oct. 17 by Conewango Township Police after an alleged incident Oct. 16 in Conewango. Carlos De Jesus Medina Peralta was arraigned Oct. 17 by Magisterial District Judge Raymond Zydonik, who set bail at $50,000. Medina Peralta is still in the county jail, according to online court docket information.

Charges have been filed against an Ashville, N.Y., man following a police chase near Sugar Grove on Oct. 5. Jeffrey E. Maynard, 34, was charged Oct. 15 by the State Police at Warren with third-degree felony fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, recklessly endangering another person, DUI/unsafe driving and 22 traffic citations after an attempted traffic stop Oct. 5 in Sugar Grove Township.
