In a world where so many are searching for hope, Overcomers Anonymous stands as a light in the darkness.

Led by Dewayne and Christy Moore, with co-leader Kristopher Wright, the local faith-based recovery group offers a holistic, non-12-step approach to healing from life’s challenges. The group welcomes individuals struggling with addiction, mental health issues, pornography, eating disorders, family-related addictions, gambling, relationship struggles, and more. Grounded in spiritual principles, Overcomers Anonymous provides a safe and encouraging environment where participants find support through prayer, scriptural guidance, and genuine connection. The group focuses on restoring not only the individual but the whole person–spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and relationally.

One of the group’s unique features is its commitment to removing barriers to participation–childcare is provided during meetings to make support accessible to all.

In addition to his leadership role, Dewayne Moore works as an aide at Warren State Hospital and is in recovery himself. His personal journey of faith and transformation gives him empathy for those he serves, both in his professional life and within the Overcomers Anonymous community. Outside of his work, Moore is a vocalist and the 2025 winner of both Chautauqua’s Got Talent and Warren’s Got Talent. His love for music and ministry often intertwines, as he uses his voice to inspire and uplift others through song. Together with his wife, Christy, Moore founded Overcomers Anonymous in 2018, recognizing a need for a faith-centered support system that reached beyond traditional recovery models. Christy Moore, co-founder and mentor of Overcomers Anonymous, serves as the clinical supervisor at Deerfield Centers for Addictions Treatment. She is credentialed in both New York and Pennsylvania in the fields of substance abuse and mental health, and has 26 years of counseling and clinical experience.

Kristopher Wright, co-leader of Overcomers Anonymous, currently works at Deerfield Centers for Addictions Treatment as a drug and alcohol therapist with a background in Adaptive Personality Development Theory.

The Moores and Wright say they have built a ministry rooted in faith, hope, and perseverance.

“When I see a life changed, that’s all I need to keep going,” Moore said.

Overcomers Anonymous meets every Thursday evening at 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Praise Fellowship Church, located at 7451 Market Street, Russell, PA. Meetings are open to anyone seeking support, connection, and spiritual growth–no registration or prior experience is required.

Starting at $3.50/week.
