Family Services celebrates National Recovery Month

or more than 30 years September has been celebrated as National Recovery Month to promote and support new evidence-based treatment and recovery practices, the nation’s recovery community, and the dedication of service providers and communities who make recovery possible.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration aims to increase public awareness surrounding mental health and addiction recovery. In the years since Recovery Month launched, SAMHSA has timed announcements of initiatives and grant funding during Recovery Month, while collaborating with private and public entities to celebrate individuals during their long-term recoveries.

Doing their part to bring awareness to the Warren community, Family Services of Warren County Inc. held a Recovery Celebration last week at the Pennsylvania General Energy Green Space on 2nd Avenue. The event was open to the public and featured free food donated by PGE, live music, guest speakers, Naloxone education and distribution and recovery information provided by FSWC as well as other organizations.

Family Services of Warren County celebrated the grand opening of its new Recovery Center located at 111 Bridge St., Tionesta, with a ribbon cutting ceremony held Wednesday Free and open to the public there will be facility tours, refreshments, information and harm reduction supplies available.
