Area residents to offer healthy eating class

Times Observer photo by Jessica N. Rex Sandra Blum (Garden Grub), Meg Harkins (Anchored Nutrition) and Cassandra Galbier (7 Living Waters) gather at the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center for their first "Pure Vessels: Drink Freely, Eat Well with God's Design" class.

Meg Harkins, Cassandra Galbier and Sandra Blum all share a common goal: to use what they’ve learned in their own personal health struggles and educate others that suffer from any health issue.

The three ladies all connected by happenstance because of attending the same local church in Russell, and all felt called to bring health information to the community. Their first-time class, called “Pure Vessels” was held recently. First, attendees enjoyed a healthy meal, followed by presentations by Harkins and Galbier.

“People will realize that eating healthy does not have to come without flavor or be boring or difficult,” they said.

While Harkins and Galbier spoke about water and meal plans, Blum helped to bring it together with a real-time, already made Taco Warrior Bowl straight from the Garden Grub kitchen.

When we have pure vessels we can have a better and direct connection to God.

Hosea 4:6 “my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.”

Harkins, founder of Anchored Nutrition health coaching, spoke about the importance of nourishing the body through nutrition with a God-first mindset.

“You cannot pray for healing and live for illness,” she said.

Galbier , founder of 7 Living Waters, has a mission to bring non-toxic water to people, restoring health, renewing minds and strengthening people’s connection to God through purer, healthier water. Blum, founder of Garden Grub and Bee Courageous initiative at Garden Grub holds the mission of bringing women together for healthier lives inside and out. She can be followed on Facebook and Instagram.

The ladies are planning to have the class again soon. Additional classes will continue to be added. They have no set schedule right now but are encouraging groups to reach out and set up a class with them. The goal of “Pure Vessels” is to educate the community by providing resources and classes.
