In the United States, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. More than just a walk, the American Cancer Society Relay For Life brings together supporters who embody the American Cancer Society vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone.
The sixth annual Band Aid of Warren County music festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 13, at Pelligrino’s Creekside, 449 Conewango Ave. Celebrating survivors, caregivers and remembering those lost to the disease, the entertaining event raises money to benefit the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.
Deb Yoakum, Band Aid festival organizer, is in her third year of leading the fight as Warren’s Relay For Life committee chairperson.
“Cancer has touched me too much,” when asked why she took on her role. “Warren County doesn’t have anything except for us. Let’s pull together and make this happen.”

It’s happening in a big way.
Countless hours of planning and multitudes of volunteers have worked tirelessly to bring this year’s Band Aid music festival to fruition. In its third year being held at Pelligrino’s Creekside, this is the first year a second performance stage has been added to the venue. Beginning at noon MC Nigel Metal of Nigel Metal Productions in Corry will be keeping things on track, announcing the acts and entertaining the crowd with his unique style. Performances on the rock stage and acoustic stage will be happening in succession guaranteeing hours of non-stop music by nine local and outlying musical acts throughout the day. Mega Sound from Jamestown is handling sound and lighting.
“It’s going to be crazy but Mega Sound can handle it,” said Yoakum.
Use of Pelligrino’s Creekside venue has again been donated by Tom Pelligrino, who also provides staffing for the event.
“He’s so generous,” Yoakum says of Pellegrino, “His staff runs the bar and cooks the food. He’s really behind the cause.”

Acoustic music will be in the pavilion closer to the chill creekside area of the Pelligrino grounds.
Offering a nod to the traditional Relay For Life walks of year’s past a Trail of Hope will be set up along the ground’s walkways. Visitors to the festival are encouraged to help line the trail with luminaries leaving a personal message of hope and courage, memorialize and honor those fighting, have fought or have been touched by cancer in their lives.
Throughout the creekside event will be artisans with hand crafted items for sale, games and raffles to fund the cause.
With a start time of noon and continuing until 7 p.m., the community is invited to bring a lawn chair to enjoy the festivities. Outside food and beverages are prohibited. Well behaved pets are welcome.
