Members of the City of Warren Planning Commission met recently to discuss a zoning map amendment requested by Pennsylvania General Energy LLC.

Located at 120 Market St. in what was previously used as the Market Street School, PGE submitted the request for change in order to add new signs to the building. Currently zoned mixed use, the amendment would change the zone to Commercial (C-1) allowing PGE to install the proposed sign measuring 10 feet wide and 30 feet in height onto the building facing 2nd Avenue. Letters in support of PGE’s request were received from surrounding businesses and organizations and reviewed by the commission. The request was approved by the commission and will be recommended for approval during a public hearing at October’s meeting of the Warren City Council.

Approved was a request submitted by Warren residents Donald and Kathryn Reed for the city to vacate a portion of the Wood Street right of way to be added to their existing property. The couple states in their request that for more than 40 years they have taken on the task of maintaining the 50 feet by 40 feet parcel. The commission approved the city’s vacation of the property and will be recommended for approval at October’s city council meeting as well.

The next meeting of the City of Warren Planning Commission will be held on Wednesday October 25th at the Municipal Building beginning at 7:30am. Meetings are open to the public and the community is encouraged to attend.

Starting at $3.50/week.
