City man jailed after alleged PFA violation

A Warren man who had been sentenced to jail time earlier this year has been jailed again after an indirect criminal contempt hearing.

Damien M. Brown of Warren was jailed Thursday after Magisterial District Judge Raymond Zydonik set bail at $35,000. Court docket information states Brown was jailed after allegedly violating an order or agreement.

According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, an interview took place at the Children’s Advocacy Center on Aug. 18, 2025, after an incident at the DeFrees Center playground involving Brown. The unnamed person told interviewers Brown had chased him around and shoved him to the ground, where the person hit his head. The incident allegedly took place in July.

“There is a protection from abuse order in place with …. Being listed as a protected party with the defendant not to harass,” the affidavit states. “Per the protect from abuse order, the plaintiff’s relatives or family and household members that plaintiff require protection from stalking and harassment by defendant.”

Brown pleaded guilty earlier this year to a harassment charge while charges of strangulation – applying pressure to throat or neck, a class 1 felony; aggravated assault – attempts to cause or causes bodily injury with a deadly weapon, a class 2 felony; misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats with intent to injure another and simple assault were not prosecuted. Brown was sentenced by Judge Gregory Hammond to 45 to 90 days confinement in June.

That incident involved a domestic incident during a child custody exchange, according to the Affidavit of Probable Cause filed in November 2024. Brown allegedly became upset while speaking to a third person on his cell phone. Before he “brandished a knife while waving it around stating, ‘I’m going to kill you and the kids.’ The woman told police Brown allegedly pushed her to the ground in the woman’s bathroom and placed his hands around her neck, with the woman losing consciousness.

“When the victim was being interviewed by police, there were multiple noticeable red marks around the victim’s neck and throat area,” the affidavit states. “The defendant did also bite the victim’s face in the cheek area.”
