Today, we get to meet Skylar Martin.
At just 19 years old, Skylar Martin is already making a name for himself in the world of country music. A proud Warren native, Skylar’s story is one of talent, tenacity, and deep family ties. His latest music video, “I Hope He Sees Me,” has garnered over 5,000 views on YouTube in five days, and the views keep climbing — and it’s more than just a song. It’s a personal tribute to his grandfather, who passed away when Skylar was just five years old
“I am a Warren native, my father is from outside of Nashville in Sevierville, Tenn., my mother is from here but had also moved to Tennessee,” Skylar said.
“Every word was the truth,” Skylar said about the song, which reflects his sincere, soul-baring style of writing. The music video, shot in the rolling landscapes between Titusville and Warren, featured not just the scenic backdrop of his hometown, but also his family. His mom Meghan Kelsey, grandmother Hope Thomas, cousins Brandon, Colt, and Elle Thomas, and Levi Hoffman all appeared in the video alongside family friends Joseph Glarner and Dr. Dale Haight, with Mark Robonault behind the camera.

Skylar’s love for music started early — he began writing songs at the age of seven and has already written between 40 and 50 original tracks. Though he once wrote songs for artists in Nashville, he recently made the decision to stop writing for others.
“I want to make a name for myself and do it on my own,” he said.
Despite opportunities in the heart of country music, Skylar chose to stay close to home to be with his beloved grandmother.
“I want to be with her for as long as I have left with her,” Martin said.
He draws musical inspiration from his surroundings — often penning lyrics while out on the golf course.

“If I’m not working or sitting down writing music, I’m golfing while writing music. Pretty much anything I do, I’m writing music in my head at the end of the day,” he shared.
Skylar’s journey hasn’t come without milestones. One of his proudest moments was traveling to Los Angeles in May 2023 for The Voice. Although he didn’t make it past the initial rounds, he views the experience as a valuable stepping stone.
“It opened a lot of doors,” he said.
Another unforgettable moment came when he proposed to his fiancée, Sadie Breeding, at the Grand Ole Opry during a trip to Nashville.
Skylar is clear about his purpose: “All I’ve ever wanted to do for as long as I can remember was to make this dream turn into reality,” he said.

He carries a message of hope and perseverance for others chasing their dreams.
“Everyone has a dream. Don’t let what anyone has to say about your dreams bring you down. Because anyone can make them come true if you just put everything you have into it. Trust in God to put you where you are supposed to be and He will do just that.”
Skylar credits much of his success to the support of his close-knit family and future in-laws.
“My family and my fiancée’s family have always been incredibly supportive of my dreams to be an artist and I will forever thank them for that,” he said. “I couldn’t be where I am today without them.” He gives special thanks to his mom Meghan Kelsey, mother-in-law Tracy Breeding, and father-in-law Joe Breeding.
With a strong foundation, a heart full of gratitude, and a talent rooted in authenticity, Skylar Martin is well on his way to leaving a lasting mark on the country music scene. And with each song, he brings a little more of Warren to the world.
