Today, we get to meet Jennifer Bliss, marketing and business development at Senior Helpers of Erie and Warren.

Whether she’s working to support seniors, serving on a community board, or blasting show tunes in tie-dye, Jennifer Bliss is a vibrant force in Warren County’s nonprofit and caregiving circles. As marketing and business development director at Senior Helpers of Erie and Warren, Jennifer is well known for her dedication to helping others live their best lives–especially the aging population and those navigating complex health conditions.

Originally from Buffalo, N.Y., Bliss moved to Russell in the early 1990s when her father was transferred to the Warren offices of United Refining and Kwik Fill/Red Apple. That move marked the beginning of a life deeply rooted in service to her community.

“I just really like helping others whenever possible,” Jennifer said. “I love volunteering!”

Bliss joined Senior Helpers in early 2020, just before the pandemic. Her role involves connecting families with caregiving support across 11 counties in Northwestern Pennsylvania. She’s become a certified resource in dementia and Parkinson’s care through Senior Helpers’ nationally recognized Senior Gems® program and has participated in numerous mental health training across Warren County.

“I especially love connecting with our area veterans,” she added. “They have such rich stories and deserve all the care and respect we can give.”

Before joining Senior Helpers, Bliss was a familiar voice on the radio, working in local broadcasting with her husband, Dale Bliss, for more than 21 years. That background gave her a strong connection to the community–one she continues to build upon daily.

Bliss’ heart is in the community. Her volunteer efforts span a variety of local organizations. She currently serves on the boards of A Safe Place, Crary Art Gallery, Woman’s Club of Warren, and Friends of the Warren Public Library. She’s also a member of Zonta International, where she serves as both the District and Local Service Chair, and the Affiliate Director for I Support the Girls of Northwest PA, a nonprofit that provides essential items to women and girls in need.

Though not on the board of the Warren County Fair, she is heavily involved through her husband, Dale, who serves as fair president. You’ll find her helping with entertainment, gates, sponsorships, advertising, and special events like the Car and Craft Show and Treasures and Trinkets.

Bliss also contributes her time to: Be Well Advisory Board, Create Community (Arts Alliance), Suicide Prevention Coalition, Warren County Dementia Coalition, Warren Area Refugee Resettlement Network, Ukraine Relief Initiative, and the Alzheimer’s Walk Leadership Committee.

Her past involvement is equally impressive, having volunteered with the League of Women Voters, WCCBI COD Board, House of Hope, Eldercare Council, Special Olympics, and many more.

When she’s not helping others, Jennifer is cherishing time with her family. Her husband Dale, senior dog Cricket, and extended family–parents Kevin and Karen, sister Megan, brother-in-law Eric, and beloved niece Trinity–are her pride and joy.

“Trinity has to be the biggest joy of my life,” she said. “And being able to spend all of this time with my family–mom, dad, Dale, Mike, Megan, Eric–it means the world.”

Known for her love of tie-dye, diverse music playlists, and strong values, Jennifer embraces individuality and advocacy in every aspect of life.

“I celebrate cultural diversity, neurodiversity, and everyone being their own true self,” she said. “I believe in being your own advocate and helping others who are in need of one, too.”

When asked to submit photos for this story, Jennifer laughed. “I realized I’m usually the one behind the camera–it was a bit of a struggle!”

In her downtime, she dabbles in genealogy, pursues personal enrichment, and dreams of traveling more. She’s also looking forward to what the future holds for Warren County.

“I can’t wait to see which small businesses open, which organizations start up, who makes it big, who makes a difference, and what happens next,” she said.
