Commissioners: Tax appeal deadline is August 11
The Warren County Commissioners are reminding county residents that the deadline to file an appeal as
part of the ongoing property reassessment is Aug. 11.
All appeals must be delivered to the Assessment Office by 4 p.m. Aug. 11.
Appeals that are received after the Aug. 11 deadline, even if postmarked before the deadline, will be scheduled and considered for the 2027 tax year.
The form required to begin an appeal can be found on the county website, warrencountypa.gov. There
is no charge to file an appeal.
Chief Assessor Brian Bull said property owners can also stop at the office or call and request that an appeal
form be mailed. Property owners who file an appeal will promptly receive notice of when and where that
hearing will be held. There is no cost to file an appeal.
“From the time we receive the appeal form here, within a couple days the notice is going out in the mail,”
Bull said.
Bull said each property owner that appeals will receive a result letter.
“Unfortunately, I don’t have a good estimate of when they may get that,” he said.
In a typical year that could take 10 days or less.
“That’s not going to happen this time,” he said. “(We’re) hoping a couple weeks…. It’s going to take a
process to get everything processed and out.”
Those result letters will be received by all property owners who appeal no later than Nov. 15, which is the
date by which values have to be certified in order for taxing bodies to set millage rates for 2026.
All appeals hearings will be held at one of several locations at the Warren County Courthouse.
Citizens protesting the county’s property reassessment held a protest rally outside the Warren County Courthouse on Friday afternoon.
