Warren County Conservation District photo contest open for entries

There’s still time for local photographers to show off their skills in the Warren County Conservation District’s sixth annual photo contest.

Entries will be accepted through Thursday, Sept. 12, at 4 p.m. at the Warren County Conservation District office, 4000 Conewango Ave., Warren.

This year’s contest features four creative categories: Abandoned Buildings, Baby Animals, Leaves, and Machinery. Each entrant may submit up to two unframed, 8×10-inch matted photos per category, but all photographs must be taken within Warren County.

Entries must include the photographer’s name, address, phone number, category, and the location where the photo was taken, clearly written on the back of each submission. The entry fee is $2 per photo.

The public is invited to view the submitted photographs and vote for the People’s Choice Awards in each category from Sept. 17 through Sept. 30 at the WCCD office. A panel from the Warren Camera Club will judge the entries on Oct. 1, with winners announced on Oct. 6.

Prizes are sponsored by Allegheny Outfitters, and include $10 gift cards for both First Prize and People’s Choice winners in each category. One photograph will also be awarded Best of Show, earning a $50 Allegheny Outfitters gift card.

The contest is open to amateur photographers only. Employees or directors of WCCD and professional photographers — defined as anyone who has received payment for photography or sold images — are not eligible to participate.

By entering, photographers certify that they are the rightful owners of the images submitted and grant WCCD permission to use the photos without restriction for current or future use.

For full contest rules or to download an entry form, visit www.wcconservation.net or call 814-726-1441.

Starting at $3.50/week.
