Rain or shine on Saturday, July 26, more than nine Drum Corps International drum and bugle corps will take the field for the Music on the Mountain at War Memorial Field in Warren.

Those who have never been to a drum corp show won’t want to miss this one. There is something extraordinary about taking in this incredible musical and marching talent in an expansive outdoor setting.

For more than 50 years, Drum Corp International, dubbed the “Marching Musician’s Major League”, has been the world’s leader in producing the most exclusive and elite student marching ensembles. Bringing these musicians and performers to the Warren area was no small feat. Ten years strong this year’s Music on the Mountain boasts the largest show organizers have ever assembled. With new and returning DCI Open Class drum and bugle corps from Canada, the New England states and across the United States to the west coast, the 2025 show is sure to be an unforgettable musical experience that hits all the right notes.

From its inception in 2015, Music on the Mountain has continued to grow bigger and better with each year’s event. Sheffield is where it all began on Wolverine territory. Eventually running out of room the show was moved to Warren’s War Memorial Field. Citing enhanced accommodations for corps bus parking, audience seating and turf field Art Lane, founder of the event, feels the move from Sheffield to Warren was a good one despite some feelings of loss to the Sheffield community.

“We’ve gotten a warm reception with the move,” Lane said.

The turf field allows the event to continue on even in inclement weather, which could be the case on Saturday.

“With a grass field, no” Lane said, going on further to say the show will only be temporarily halted in the event of lightning.

Hailing from Nashua, New Hampshire the Spartans will perform for the last time at Music on the Mountain as an Open Class corps.

The Spartans have simply grown too big and will be moving up to World Class which requires more than the 200 performers of Open Class corps. The Spartans have promised a special performance after the conclusion of the regular show that attendees will want to stick around to see.

Tickets are $15 pre-sale through 3 p.m. Friday, July 25 and can be purchased by visiting www.smotm.org.
