Route 6 accident no longer a hit and run
The victim of the accident that was being investigated as a hit and run on Monday morning has regained consciousness.
Route 6 near Dorcon Road was down to one lane traffic as police investigated the incident and the victim was airlifted to UPMC Hamot in Erie. The victim was riding a gas-powered motorized bicycle and not able to give information at the scene of the accident on June 30.
The victim has since reported to state police that the accident was a single vehicle crash. He lost control going around the curve and crashed into the guard rail.
The accident is no longer being investigated as a hit and run, Pennsylvania State Police reported.
