The ACC previously operated from the TAWC bus building but relocated due to rising operational costs. According to Danelle Sowers, Executive Director of Experience, Inc., the move was a necessary step to ensure the continued delivery of vital programs while addressing budget constraints.
“We had to make the move to relocate the Allegheny Community Center due to budget constraints,” Sowers explained. “Over the past two years, we’ve seen a 25% increase in the number of people seeking our services, while funding has remained relatively flat.
Relocating to our main office allows us to reduce expenses and continue serving our growing community without sacrificing quality.”
The newly renovated space, which was opened June 25, now offers a variety of activities and services aimed at keeping older adults engaged, active, and supported. Programs include art classes, exercise classes, games like Bridge, Mah Jong, Bingo,Scrabble, and cards, as well as special offerings like Culinary Kidz, an intergenerational cooking program, and a monthly Memory Café for caregivers supporting loved ones with dementia.

The relocation and renovation were made possible through the generous support of local donors, including the Community Foundation of Warren County, the DeFrees Family Memorial Fund, the Betts Foundation, and the Richard T. Betts Family Foundation.
“We never would have been able to make this move without their support,” Sowers emphasized. “We are so fortunate to live in a community where people are willing to invest in supporting the lives of older adults.”
Savannah Casey, Director of Operations at the Warren County Chamber of Business & Industry (WCCBI),praised the project’s success and its impact on the community.
“The newly renovated Allegheny Community Center, in partnership with Experience Inc., stands as a shining example of what we can achieve when we come together,” Casey said. “This incredible transformation has created a vital hub for connection, activity, and support. The services offered here are not just valuable — they are essential, enriching the lives of countless individuals and strengthening the very fabric of our community.”
Experience, Inc. employs 25 staff members throughout Warren and Forest counties, with three staff members dedicated to the Allegheny Community Center itself.
Sowers expressed gratitude to the organization’s Board of Directors and staff for their hard work in making the relocation a success.
“In order to relocate the center, we first had to make significant room upgrades to the space on Fourth Avenue and also add several costly commercial appliances. Our staff put in a lot of sweat equity to make this move happen,” she said. “They are so dedicated to our mission and to the older adults we serve. I’m incredibly proud of them all.”
The Allegheny Community Center continues to serve as an essential resource for seniors, offering both recreational and support services that make a lasting difference in the lives of many throughout the region.
