Local artist Kimberly Slocum to Showcase “September Creek” at NPAA Biennial 9 Art Show in Erie

Photo submitted to the Times Observer “September Creek,” will be exhibited in the NPAA Biennial 9 art show at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center (TREC) in Erie this summer, from July 1 through September 30.
Local artist Kimberly Slocum will represent Warren County this summer in the Northwestern Pennsylvania Artists Association Biennial 9 Art Show, where her painting, “September Creek,” will be on display at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center in Erie.
The exhibit runs from July 1 through Sept. 30, 2025.
“The piece is especially meaningful to me,” Slocum said. “It was inspired by a photograph taken by the Warren County Visitors Bureau showing Conewango Creek from Big Four Road here in Warren County. I reinterpreted the image through paint to honor the natural beauty and quiet spirit of our home region.”
A juried artist with the NPAA, Slocum explained that the painting, a 10″ x 10″ acrylic on canvas, was born from her deep connection to the quiet landscapes of Warren County.
“It just really spoke to me – that early autumn color, the quiet curve of the creek. It captured something I think a lot of us feel about this place,” she said.
When the opportunity came to exhibit at TREC, located at the entrance to Presque Isle State Park, Slocum felt it was the perfect venue to showcase her work.
“I wanted to bring a little bit of Warren County’s atmosphere to a space where people come to connect with nature,” she said.
The NPAA Biennial 9 is part of the association’s ongoing celebration of over 50 years of supporting artists throughout Northwestern Pennsylvania. The event highlights a diverse array of works from talented artists across the region.
The Gala Reception for the exhibition will take place on Saturday, July 12, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center and is open to the public. There will be live music, refreshments and an opportunity to meet the participating artists in person. The piece will be for sale during the exhibition.
