Several events on agenda for this second weekend of summer

The second weekend of summer has got a lot going on, from art shows, to live music to great food and horse drawn trolley rides.

What are you going to do?

The weekend kicks off at noon on Friday with the three-day long Vibe Flow Festival at the Kinzua Heritage Grounds on Fox Hill in Russell, Pa. The weekend features live music, flow arts, healing classes and vendors. Flow arts include hula hooping, poi, staff, and other flow tools, and classes will be offered with experienced instructors. The healing arts include yoga, breathwork, sound baths, sweat lodge and meditative practices. A $5 admission after 5 p.m. lets anyone get a taste of what happens. A day pass is $25 and children 14 and under are free. Pets are not permitted on the grounds.

Pearl City Jazz will be playing at the Soldiers and Sailors park in downtown Warren for Music in the Park on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. The 18-member jazz band plays big band music. Those attending can also vote for Miss Independent Senior Queen starting at 6 p.m. The Miss Independent Senior Queen contest features women over the age of 62 decked out in their finest patriotic pageant attire and sharing what the Fourth of July means to them.

Kane will feature Art in the Wilds, running on Saturday, June 28, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The outdoor art festival takes place at Kane’s Evergreen Park and features ceramics, fiber arts, glass, jewelry, leather, mixed media, painting, drawing, photography, sculpture and wood arts. There will also be food and drink available at the park, but pets are prohibited. Art in the Wilds Black Cherry Sponsors are Allegheny National Forest Visitors Bureau, Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Elk County Council on the Arts Gallery. .

The Wilder Museum’s Best Fest kicks off at 11 a.m., with free admission to the museum in Irvine and a host of vendors and activities. Shop local vendors selling their crafts and wares on the museum grounds. There will also be a horse-drawn trolley tour of the area. The Allegheny Jammers string band will regale visitors with music in the “old time” tradition of Scotland, Ireland, and Appalachia. The Daughters of the American Revolution will host a children’s flag coloring or drawing contest to celebrate America’s upcoming 250th birthday.

The Wilder Museum is the largest in the area and houses over 4,000 artifacts of local history that include Native American artifacts, tools and techniques used in early Warren industries and a collection of antique weaponry.

Best Fest was made possible by the Sokolski Family Foundation & the Community Foundation of Warren County.

The Warren County Fair Grounds will feature a Cruise in Craft Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 29. Rumble at the Fairgrounds expects more than 100 vehicles, and will feature prizes for General Motors, Ford, Mopar, Import, Street Rod, Pick-up, motorcycle, classic restoration, Jeep and a People’s Choice Award. Winners will be announced at 3 p.m.

The Treasures and Trinkets craft show will happen on the fairgrounds at the same time. A basket raffle made up of items from all the vendors will support the Warren County Fair Improvement Fund. A people’s choice award for best decorated booth will be awarded.
