Warren got a visit from Page Weinstein, Miss Pennsylvania on Monday, June 2 as part of her goal of visiting every county in Pennsylvania. While she was in town, she went to visit students at Warren Area Elementary Center, the Career Center and St. Joseph’s Catholic School. Weinstein read an alphabet book full of significant landmarks in Pennsylvania to students, according to Judi Danielson, acting principal at St. Joseph’s Catholic School.

Afterward, Weinstein “encouraged students to do things that were a little scary, but not to be afraid to do things that are hard because they can do hard things.”

“WAEC had the distinct honor of welcoming Miss Pennsylvania to our building for a very special lunchtime celebration,” said Shawn Bedow, Warren Area Elementary Center principal. “A select group of students were recognized for exemplifying the core values of FIRE–Friendship, Independence, Responsibility, and Excellence–consistently throughout the school year. As a reward for their outstanding behavior and positive contributions to our school community, these students were invited to share a private lunch with Miss Pennsylvania, where they had the chance to engage in meaningful conversation and be recognized for their leadership and character. This event was not only a celebration of student achievement, but also a powerful reminder of the importance of kindness, personal responsibility, and striving for excellence in everything we do. We are incredibly proud of our FIRE award recipients and grateful to Miss Pennsylvania for inspiring our students with her presence and message.”

During her visit in Warren, Weinstein toured downtown with Mike Holtz, city manager, and Mayor Dave Wortman, that included a stop at Gen. Joseph Warren Park and breakfast at the Plaza Restaurant.

“Overall it was a great opportunity to showcase Warren,” Holtz said. “It was nice to visit with Page and learn a little bit about Page and what Miss Pennsylvania does.”
