Pops by the Fountain returns tonight

A past Pops by the Fountain concert is pictured.
Warren will close Second Avenue this afternoon to bring the eighth annual “Pops by the Fountain” back to downtown Warren.
The concert combines the talents of the Warren Philharmonic and students from the Warren County Summer Music School to create a performing group of up to 80 performers. In addition to musicians from the philharmonic and summer music school, there will be a chorus, dancers and soloists.
The “Pops by the Fountain” concert will be directed by Bryan Eckenrode at 7 p.m. on Second Avenue between Liberty Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. The rehearsal starts at 5 p.m. and concert-goers are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and set up to enjoy both the rehearsal and the concert.
This annual concert opens with a bagpipe fanfare, two short classical selections “Spanish Gaiety Bolero and Prelude 49th Parallel” followed by a mix of both patriotic and pop selections. This year’s pop selections are “Smooth” by Santana, and “A Chorus Line”. Patriotic selections include “This is My Country”, featuring the Warren County Summer Music School choir, “Armed Forces Salute”, “Washington Post March”, and “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”
In case of rain the concert will be held at Warren Area High School.
