Kinzua FCU celebrates grand opening of new building

After nearly seven decades of service and multiple relocations, Kinzua Federal Credit Union finally has a place of its own.

The credit union officially celebrated the grand opening of its first standalone building recently, marking a major milestone in its 69-year history. The credit union is now located at 213 W. Third Ave., Warren.

“This is a culmination of 69 years,” said Jim Tellman, credit union board president, during the opening ceremony. “I’ve been involved with the credit union for over 30 years, and this has always been a dream. Every time we turned around, something got in the way – but Amy (Lyon, branch manager) and I put our heads together and really made forth an effort, and this is the culmination of that effort.”

Kinzua FCU originally began as part of the National Forge in 1956 and has moved several times throughout its history. Despite those transitions, the credit union had never had its own dedicated building until now.

Construction of the new facility began following a groundbreaking ceremony in August 2024, and while the building had quietly opened to members in recent weeks, Thursday’s event marked the official unveiling. The credit union partnered with PW Campbell, a firm known for its financial institution builds, to bring the project to life.

“I couldn’t be happier with our construction company, PW Campbell,” Tellman said. “They did a fantastic job for us, our staff, the board. This is just unbelievable.”

The new building offers expanded amenities for members, including a drive-thru, ATM, and on-site parking, enhancements aimed at improving convenience and accessibility.

For Tellman and others involved, the new facility represents more than just bricks and mortar–it’s a symbol of growth, resilience, and community.

“It’s your community, your credit union,” Tellman said. “Come on up and join us.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
