JCC launches scholarship for Warren, McKean, Erie county students
Students from Warren County and other neighboring Pennsylvania counties have a new opportunity to make college more affordable.
Jamestown Community College has created the Good Neighbors Scholarship, a trial initiative designed to support students from Warren, McKean, and Erie counties in Pennsylvania. The scholarship covers half the cost of out-of-state tuition, allowing qualifying students to pay the same rate as New York residents.
The program aims to strengthen cross-border educational partnerships and make it easier for local Pennsylvania students to pursue higher education close to home.
To qualify for the Good Neighbors Scholarship, students must: Be newly enrolled at JCC for the 2025-2026 academic year, Submit a completed JCC admissions application, File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), Reside in Warren, McKean, or Erie County, PA, and Meet federal satisfactory academic progress requirements.
Students who plan to live in residence halls on JCC’s Jamestown Campus are not eligible for this specific scholarship. However, those students may still apply for the residence halls out-of-state tuition grant, which also covers half the cost of tuition.
In addition, eligible students from Cameron, Elk, Forest, McKean, or Warren counties, or from the cities of Corry or North East, may also apply for the USA Scholarship. This merit-based award is available to first-time, full-time freshmen who graduate in the top 20% of their high school class.
Funded by the JCC Foundation, the Good Neighbors Scholarship is currently a trial program and is available only for the 2025-2026 academic year. Its future will depend on the level of interest and success in serving the needs of local students.
With this initiative, JCC hopes to build stronger educational ties with neighboring communities and remove financial barriers for students seeking a quality, affordable education.
