Pittsburgh-based singer-songwriter to perform Friday

Pittsburgh-based singer-songwriter Alan Getto is set to perform at the Struthers Library Theatre from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 9.
The free concert, part of the Roots Rising series, will take place in Sally’s Encore Theatre Bar, offering attendees an intimate setting to experience Getto’s unique blend of indie folk and Americana music.
Getto’s musical journey began at the age of 15, but it wasn’t until he was 24 that he pursued it professionally, releasing an acoustic demo while living in New York City. He later moved to Ligonier, Pa., where he released his LP “Versus” and embarked on two East Coast tours. Since 2021, he has been based in Pittsburgh, continuing to develop his sound and connect with audiences.
His song “Baby, Be My Baby” exemplifies his approach to songwriting — drawing inspiration from early Americana and folk traditions to create melodies that resonate with simplicity and joy.
“I just wanted a carefree song. Don’t have to think all the time, ya know?” Getto said.
Beyond music, Getto is also a skilled woodworker, having built his own guitars, including a Stratocaster and a Telecaster.
The Roots Rising series aims to build community and inspire creativity by presenting nationally recognized blues, country, folk, bluegrass, and Americana artists. Sponsored by the Warren Concert Association and the Sokolski Family Fund, the series offers both ticketed main-stage events and free performances in Sally’s Encore Theatre Bar.
